My sweet family and friends gave me a baby shower in Colorado City last Saturday. Our baby, Aurora Julieta received such nice gifts...everything was so precious! I had such a great time, and was touched by the sweetness of everyone there. Lupita and Jessica, my awesome friends were there and drove a distance to be there...as did others like Jennifer and my sister-n-law Lisset and girls. I had such a wonderful time...thanks to everyone who played a role in my special day. I love yall!

Upward Bound

having a crazy time...
Jimmy, Staggerlee, and Daniela
My boss, Mrs. Vasquez and I...
Gabriella, the banquet theme was "Let the Good Times Rock and Roll"
Johnathan Fuentes, former Upward Bound student, now Harvard grad., with Daniela
Mrs. Ford (English teacher), Mrs. Cornish (sign language teacher)

This was the third summer I taught Spanish through the wonderful program Upward Bound. These are kids that will be the first in their families to attend college after high school. They make good grades and show effort throughout the regular school year and are selected to participate in the grant program. The kids live in the Odessa College dorms and attend four weeks of classes that is topped of with an Awards Banquet. This year was as fun as ever...my advanced bunch did a song and dance routine to "Buenos Dias Senor Sol" by Juan Gabriel at the banquet and my first year kids did a puppet show in Spanish...they did a great job. I really enjoyed having them and plan on being apart of Upward Bound for many years to come.

The much anticipated DeLoera reunion this July 4th weekend has come and gone now...and what is left are tons of good memories and pictures! I'm so glad that we decided on attending, in spite of the fact that I'm very pregnant with swolen feet most of time...it was worth the effort. I was happy to introduce Ulisses to some family he hadn't met yet...and crazier still...I was happy to meet some DeLoera kin folk for the first time.
The accommodations at the hotel were awesome, the food was great, the atmosphere festive and inviting and everything was so well organized from beginning to end. I really had a wonderful time...and I'm already looking forward to the next one!
