Washington D.C., July 20-24
He was one of my favorite speakers.
What an awesome four days! I had always dreamed of going to D.C. and this summer my dream came true. Mom and I flew to D.C. to take part in the third annual Washington/Israel Summit with C.U.F.I. or Christians United for Israel. This is an organization dedicated to supporting Israel and her right to exist. We had many meetings and heard many politicians and pastors speak on the topic. (Many of them are in the pictures above.) We ended the summit with a beautiful banquet in which Israeli and American flags were flown. The speakers included Senator Joseph Lieberman, Israel's Ambassador to the U.S., and Pastor John Hagee. Randi Travis also sang the Star Spangled Banner. It was an awesome evening. The next day C.U.F.I met on Capitol Hill and met with their senators and representatives. The main purpose in this was to show support for Israel and to let our senators and representatives hear our opinion on up coming bills, especially those pertaining to Iran. Ahmadinejad has promised to "wipe the state of Israel off the map"...and he could have the nuclear capabilities to make true on his promise by the end of the year. This would amount to another Holocaust in a fraction of the time. This of course is unacceptable...and the United States must stand with the nation of Israel...the only democracy in the Middle East. The bible says of Israel..."I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you."
Mom and I were truly blessed throughout this trip, we had a wonderful time and made many new friends...it was a vacation with a purpose. And even though we didn't get to see and do everything we had wanted... God willing we'll be back again for next year's summit. I can hardly wait.
For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet...Isaiah 62:1
