Teacher of the Year

Super proud, but not surprised, Nadia got Teacher of the Year at Permian. How big is this you might ask? well it's BIG, not only is Permian HS a well recognized school in the country; famous for its football program, who doesn't remember "Friday Night Lights"? What Nadia accomplished this year is a perfect ending for the "break" on her teaching career. 583 seniors voted and Nadia is one of six teachers of the year. Check out the video...

27 Weeks

This Thursday I had anther doctor's appointment...and since Ulisses was working I invited Mom to go with me.She was excited to be there...she got to hear the baby's heart beat....and the doctor said all is well with both the baby and myself. At our next appointment we get another sonogram...can't wait.

New Dog...

A couple of weeks ago Ulisses and I were driving to his sister's house when when we spotted something on the road. This cute little wienie dog was running across the road in traffic...thank God she made it to the other side. I convinced Ulisses we should turn around and we did. We picked her up and she's been living on our patio ever since. Our niece named her Chloe. She's a good little dog...hardly ever makes a sound, which to us is important after our "Lola experience". (Lola lives at grandma's house) The only thing is Ulisses and I don't agree on Chloe's life before us...I think we saved her...Ulisses thinks she was dognaped...But, she didn't have a collar and she was so shy and skittish when we first got her...I think she was abused. Anyway, she's with us now and is doing great.

Piano Recital...

Saturday, May 16, Bianca and Sydney had their piano recital. They did a great job...Bianca has improved a lot since last year. The girls looked so pretty in their dresses...I'm glad we were able to see them perform and receive their music awards.

Andrea's Music Recital...

Last weekend Andrea came to stay with us. Ulisses picked her up after school on Friday. That same afternoon she had her music recital. She played the violin and sang some songs with the choir. We really enjoyed seeing her perform...God has given her some musical talents...especially when it comes to singing, which she really enjoys.

wearing my new earrings...

Mother's Day was a great day...Ulisses bought me some beautiful hoop earrings. Maybe that is cheating, since I'm not technically a mother...but I think it's close enough! It was so sweet of him to get me a gift.

After church, we headed to Nana's for the day. It was fun...got to see some family and hang out. I hadn't seen Javier in a while, and it was good to visit with him. Gabriela, Xander, Gabriel and Martin got to play together some. It was so cute...can't wait to add to the bunch.

Couple's Bridal Shower...

Sharon, Jen, Dri, Terry and I...

Pregnant girls..
Saturday, May 9, was Candace's and Anthony's bridal shower at Tio's house. It was a beautiful afternoon for a back yard party. All the little kids played in the sand box together...it was cute watching all of them interact. We ate well and visited alot...it was a great time. Tio Junior gave a speech at the end of the evening that just about made me cry. God is good...all the time...was the theme. Anthony's health is better and he and Candace are a sweet couple whose great love is obvious. She is going to be a wonderful addition to our family. Above are some pictures I took at the party...wish I had taken more.

This past Friday, May 8th, my friends at Permian gave two other teachers and myself a baby shower. My friend Alma is expecting a baby boy in September and my other friend Cody's wife is due with their boy any day now. It was a Mojo Baby shower...and everything was so sweet and cute. Friends from my department gave me some beautiful flowers in a pink basket that we're going to use later to decorate the nursery. We also received so many other cute things...it was a very nice shower...and I was so touched by the kindness of my many school friends. I'm definitely going to miss them this next school year.

Andrea's Dance Team...

Earlier this month I went to see Andrea dance at her school's Dance Extravaganza. I really enjoyed watching her...I wish they had offered something like that when I was younger...it looked like so much fun. Maybe our little girl will get to participate in a few years.

Visitors...

Last Thursday and Friday Odessa got two visitors...Nana and Sara! Tia had a dentist appointment on Friday morning...Mom, Dri, and I got to visit with them some over at Irene's on Thursday. On Friday, I was happy that Mom and I got to eat lunch with them at Rosas. Afterward, Mom, Nana and Sara did some shopping...I think they had fun. It was great seeing them...hopefully they'll be back soon for a longer visit...

Diego and Dora...
Diego and I...
Ulisses and Andrea...
a very tired Diego...
Last Thursday we went to a Dia del Nin~o celebration in Midland. It was a lot of fun. Benjamin and Lisset's radio station Q108 were the ones who put it on. They had plenty of fun things for the kids, live mariachi, and other bands. Diego and Dora also made a special appearance for all their fans. Ulisses wore the Diego costume and our friend Edgar wore Dora. It was so funny and cute to see. The kids just loved on them and took tons of pictures. Ironically, our niece Dahlia who is a huge fan, was scared of them. Ulisses said he had a great time doing it...only boy was he tired and sweaty by the end of the night!
